Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
If you already have a website, but have not received the amount of online traffic that you were expecting this may be down to bad SEO. Optimising a website for Search Engines is a skill in itself and there are now hundreds of "SEO Specialists" springing up where ever you look. It all boils down to several very important factors when developing a website. If you get these right, then you have a better chance of appearing higher up in search engines such as Google for your chosen keywords.
I can help you with your own optimisation. If you would like advice on a site currently in development or one that's already live - I can go through the code and high-light areas of concern and make suggestions for change, or make the changes myself. I can also set you up with as Google tool that will allow you to pull your own website statistics so you can measure ROI.
But how do I know all this? I spoken with several SEO Specialists and have boiled down all their B.S. to the meaty bits. They have taught me exactly what to do and how they do it. I've since used their techniques on several websites and the results have been very impressive. I have also been to seminars such as "Online Traffic Optimisation" in London 07, where I have the change to hear experts in the field from Yahoo!, ITV, Facebox and many others.
Search engines
If you have a lot of products, it is good to have a search engine so that customer can fin what they are looking for easily. Search works found can be high-lighted in bold (like Google Search) or have a coloured background, like in this example Game-Zone. You can have Category Searches like Amazon.
Dynamic page
If you have lots of products, there is no need to create a separate page for each one. You could have a dynamic page that displays the product details for any product that the customer wants to view. A good example of a dynamic page is the 'model' page I did for Catwalk-UK, if you click on a few models you'll see that you are going to the same page, but with a different ID number passed to it for each model.
Shopping Basket & Secure Checkouts
If you are wanting to sell a product or service on your website you website you have several options:
- Integrate a Third Party into your website such as PayPal or World Pay. Customers can then add products from your website onto their Shopping Basket on PayPal. They can also purchase the items online via PayPal and then be redirected back to your site for confirmation.
- Have your own Shopping Basket on your website and receive orders via email. It is then up to you to process the order and collect card details. This is the cheapest option.
- The eCommerce Package is the most professional as the Shopping Basket and Secure Checkout and both on your website. This option requires you to have an Internet Merchant Account and an SSL Certificate. I can consult with you about both of these.
A good example Books-UK
Login systems
If you are expanding your website and need to have some secure content I can integrate a secure login system. This will enable you to have 'Member Only' sections and 'My Account' sections on your site. A good example of one of my login systems is on my Demo Site, Game-Zone. Please feel free to register and have a play around on this site.
Registration forms
Linked closely to the Login System above, this form will enable users to register on your site and have their own username and password. If you need a full Login System I wont charge for two Web Services, but I just added it separately just in case anyone wanted an updated form. So see another of my Demo Sites with a registration form look at, Books-UK.
RSS Feeds
If the content on your website is constantly updated you could have an RSS feed for users to keep up to date with your site. An RSS Feed is more like an online news channel when users are constantly updated with your information. A good example of one of my feeds is the FeaturesExec Media Bulletin ![]()
Mailing lists
If you wish to email multiple contacts at once, don't send out the same email manually. I can build you an application that will let your website users register their interest in receiving your emails and also a tool that will let you send them such emails. The email's you send can either be plain text or HTML (with pictures and colours). You will also be able to edit your mailing list and remove or amend any information you need to. Obviously this tool would be password protected.
Contact Form
You may need some sort of form on your site where users can fill in their details and maybe select some preferences/products. This information will then be emailed to you directly. A good example of my work in this Web Service is CA. Please remember than this is a working form.
And much more!
If you would like some help on a project and I've not listed what you are looking for above, then don't worry - these are just typical examples. Contact me and we can talk about your idea.
